Plagiarism Policy – EIRA Publisher

EIRA Publisher is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing. Plagiarism is considered a serious violation of scholarly ethics and will not be tolerated in any form. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using professional similarity detection software before entering the peer review process.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs when an author presents another person’s work, ideas, words, or data as their own without appropriate acknowledgment or citation. This includes copying text, figures, tables, or research findings from previously published sources without proper attribution.

Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally, but both forms are treated seriously under EIRA Publisher’s editorial policy.

2. Types of Plagiarism

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text word-for-word from another source without quotation marks or citation.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing previously published work by the same author without proper reference.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism: Mixing phrases, sentences, or ideas from different sources without proper acknowledgment.
  • Data Plagiarism: Using data, figures, tables, or experimental results from other research without permission or citation.
  • Source-Based Plagiarism: Incorrect citation or misleading referencing that conceals the original source.

3. Plagiarism Detection Using Turnitin

All manuscripts submitted to EIRA Publisher are screened using Turnitin Similarity Detection Software to identify overlapping text with previously published literature and online sources.

Turnitin compares submitted manuscripts against a comprehensive global database including academic journals, books, conference papers, theses, and internet sources to detect potential similarities.

The editorial office carefully evaluates similarity reports to determine whether overlapping content represents legitimate citation, commonly used terminology, or potential plagiarism.

4. Acceptable Similarity Index

To maintain originality and research integrity, EIRA Publisher follows strict similarity thresholds:

  • Up to 10% Similarity: Generally acceptable when properly cited.
  • 10% – 20% Similarity: Manuscript may be returned to the author for revision and proper citation.
  • Above 20% Similarity: Manuscript may be rejected due to excessive overlap.

The editorial board reserves the right to evaluate similarity on a case-by-case basis. High similarity within references, methodology descriptions, or common terminology may be considered acceptable when appropriately cited.

5. Author Responsibilities

Authors submitting manuscripts to EIRA Publisher must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is entirely original and unpublished.
  • All sources, quotations, and ideas from other works are properly cited.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal simultaneously.
  • All co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
  • Data presented in the manuscript is authentic and accurately reported.

6. Editorial Actions in Case of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the following actions may be taken:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
  • Request for revision and resubmission with proper citations.
  • Notification to the author’s institution or affiliated organization in serious cases.
  • Temporary or permanent prohibition of future submissions from the responsible authors.

7. Post-Publication Plagiarism

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, EIRA Publisher may take corrective actions including:

  • Publishing corrections or notices of concern.
  • Issuing article retractions.
  • Removing the article from indexing databases when required.
  • Informing academic institutions or funding bodies.

8. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

EIRA Publisher follows internationally recognized publication ethics standards and encourages authors to uphold transparency, originality, and proper attribution in all scholarly communications.

By submitting a manuscript to EIRA Publisher, authors confirm that their work complies fully with this plagiarism policy and academic integrity guidelines.
